紐約尼克26日聖誕大戰雖然敗給波士除油煙機頓塞爾提克，賽前主將「甜瓜」Carmelo Anthony的善舉讓他成為一位真正贏家。
賽前，由Anthony的個人基金會The Carmelo Anthony Foundation與麥迪遜廣場花園的基金會Garden of Dreams Foundation、贊助車商Kia共同邀請一位球迷來看球，還送他一份大禮。
這位球迷名叫Jarrell Lara，年僅17歲，但他患有蘭格罕細胞組織球增生症（Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis），每100萬名成人只有1至2個案例的罕見疾病，會導致骨頭、皮膚病變，中樞神經也會受影響。
Anthony賽前邀請Lara與家人到停車場，在雙親見證下送給他一台Kia休旅車，他的母親感動地痛哭流涕，不斷向甜瓜致謝。
「這比運動本身重要太多了。」Anthony說：「讓一個家庭高興，讓他們美夢成真，給予他們一天的快樂。」
其實Kia是NBA官方贊助商，對於Anthony來說，送出這台休旅車並沒有損失，但這樣的心意與笑容，可不是每個人都有。
